Teschner shares credit for Castner campaign
Teschner shares credit for Castner campaign: I appreciate the special mention in Tuesday’s editorial, “One final plea for Castner Range Monument,” but credit must be shared. Take the energetic Judy Ackerman, responsible for at least 10,000 of the 35,000 support letters to President Obama. Take the faithful Scott Cutler, active in Castner since the 1990s and leader of the 2006 drive to stop the range from being developed. Take Pat White, treasurer to us and many El Paso organizations. Take John Moses, retired superintendent and a walking Castner encyclopedia. Take the senior staff of the El Paso Community Foundation – Eric Pearson, Kathrin Berg, Stephanie Otero, Gary Williams – who made such a difference in the campaign. Take Janaé Reneaud Field, CEO of The Frontera Land Alliance whose “half-time” position morphed into full-time work. Take responsive Congressman Beto O’Rourke and his highly qualified staff (especially Marc Rehmann, specifically hired to work on Castner). Take Mayor Leeser, City Council, Judge Escobar, county Commissioners Court, Sen. Rodriguez, the House delegation, El Paso Water’s Public Service Board, the school districts, 12 El Paso conservation groups, Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, El Paso veterans’ organizations, over two dozen civic groups and neighborhood associations, 12 national and statewide conservation entities, 106 local businesses, former Congressmen Ron Coleman and Silvestre Reyes – the list goes on. The Castner campaign broke all records for hard work. I am very pleased to be a part of it.
