Hundreds show support for Castner monument

With the Franklin Mountains providing an inspiring backdrop, hundreds of El Pasoans united in support of Castner Range on Saturday morning in Northeast El Paso.

The public meeting was held at the Forum Theater inside El Paso Community College’s Transmountain Campus. Residents and Castner Range advocates met with U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-El Paso, to hear an update on efforts to have President Barack Obama designate it a national monument. Bureau of Land Management Deputy Director Steven Ellis also was present and listened to residents.
